Expressions of interest to apply for a MSCA Individual Fellowship

The CampuS theoretical group (http://www.xchem.uam.es/), at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) is seeking for expressions of interest to apply for an individual MSCA Fellowship. Deadline to apply for the 2017 open call is September, 14th.

Talented, enthusiastic young researchers are welcome to join this leading group to develop a project in the framework of the research areas described below but going beyond the current state of the art.
The hosting Institution (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) guarantees enough computational resources to carry out the project through its Computing Center and one of the most powerful High Performance Computing (HPC) facilities in Europe, HPC-Europa, through the Mare Nostrum Barcelona Supercomputing Center.

Interested researchers should first verify if they comply with the 2017 eligibility criteria at http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/desktop/en/opportunities/h2020/topics/msca-if-2017.html, and if so, send to the projects manager (beatriz.martin(at)uam.es):
(i) a detailed CV, including publications list and a description of the current research lines,
(ii) a motivation letter describing his/her future research plans and a draft project proposal, and
(iii) contact information for 2 references or their support letters.
Suitable candidates may be asked for further information.

Deadline to send expressions of interest is July 14th, 2017.

Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) is a state university offering graduate and postgraduate degrees in many different fields. It was founded almost 50 years ago, and has already achieved an outstanding international reputation for its high-quality teaching and research. It is generally recognized as one of the best Spanish universities.

The CampuS research group, led by Prof. Fernando Martín, belongs to the Department of Chemistry. Its research mainly focuses on (i) the theoretical and computational modeling of photoexcitation and photoionization processes in atomic and molecular systems induced by synchrotron radiation and ultrashort laser pulses with femto- and attosecond duration, and (ii) the study and theoretical prediction of properties of materials and nano-objects of complex molecular systems, aggregates and fullerenes, isolated or deposited on metallic and nonmetallic surfaces. This, in close collaboration with prestigious Spanish and international experimental groups.
The quality of this group is reflected by the number and quality of publications in the last ten years: more than 200 papers, among which 3 in Science, 2 in Nature, 1 Chemical Reviews, 1 in Nature Physics, 2 in Nature Chemistry, 1 in Nature Photonics, 2 in Nature Communications, 4 in Proc. of National Academy of Sciences, 1 in NanoLetters, 1 in ACS Nano, 2 in Angewandte Chemie, etc. In 2000, Fernando Martín was awarded the National Research Prize Rey Juan Carlos I, in 2010, the prize of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry in Chemical Physics. in 2011, the Advanced Grant from the European Research Council XCHEM and in 2017 the King Jaime I Prize in Basis research.

The XChem group is formed by an interdisciplinary team of researchers and collaborators that aim at developing state-of-the-art time-dependent methods to address newly emerging fundamental questions about the role of sub-fs and attosecond coherent electron and nuclear dynamics in physics and chemistry.
In particular, the XChem project aims at developing theoretical approaches and computational tools for time-resolving and controlling (i) molecular autoionization in the presence of ultra-fast vibrational motion, (ii) attosecond charge migration dynamics in molecules upon ionization, (iii) coupled electron-nuclear dynamics during non-adiabatic transitions, with emphasis on the role of electronic coherence created prior or during the transition, and (iv) chemical reactivity. The XChem project is currently funded by the European Research Council (ERC Advanced Grant n° 290853).
